Back pain: understanding your options and how osteo may help
Back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek healthcare.
As Mitch knows all too well, it can affect people of all ages and activity levels — from office workers and tradespeople to parents, recreational athletes and retirees.
For some people, back pain is a short-lived inconvenience. For others, it can interfere with sleep, work, exercise and everyday activities.
The good news is that many common episodes of back pain can be managed with appropriate advice, movement and gradual return to normal activities.
Understanding what may be contributing to your symptoms and knowing when to seek professional advice can help you make informed decisions about your care.
Welcome to Rapid Recovery Nathan Wu
If you have booked an osteo treatment at our Seville or Ferntree Gully clinics you may have seen Nathan has recently joined the team.
Nathan became an Osteopath because he wanted to make a positive change to people's lives.
"One of the best aspects of being an Osteopath is that I can help people manage their pain, build up strength and assist people into moving confidently so that you can get back into doing what you were unable to do because the pain has stopped you from enjoying what you love, whether that be sports, gardening, spending time with family and friends, working or sleeping.
Often times people let the pain take control of their lives, I believe it is our job to take control of the pain through hands-on manual therapy, education, exercise and movement."
Nathan's areas of focus include:
- Neck Pain and headaches
- Lower back pain
- Shoulder pain
- Knee pain
So If the aches and pains are holding you back, Nathan is here to help!
Bookings with Nathan are available:
- Ferntree Gully Clinic: Monday (PM), Wednesday (AM), Friday (All Day), Saturday (Fortnightly)
- Seville Clinic: Thursday (PM) & Tuesdays (PM) from mid November
You don't have to put up with pain during pregnancy…
There's a common idea in pregnancy that once your belly gets bigger, the aches, pains, pressure and discomfort are simply part of the deal.
Your back hurts? You're pregnant.
Your hips are sore? You're pregnant.
Your pelvis feels like it's being pulled in seventeen different directions and turning over in bed has somehow become an Olympic sport?
Yep… Pregnant.
And as advanced therapist Haydie explains, while some discomfort can be a normal part of your body changing during pregnancy, you don't necessarily have to just put up with pain until your baby arrives.
Desk Workers: The hidden cost of sitting all day
Neck tension, headaches and stiff hips? In this article, our remedial therapist Tara Jenner explains why sitting at a desk all day can take a toll on your body, and what you can do about it.
Have you ever finished a day at the office feeling more exhausted than you expected, with a tight neck, aching shoulders or stiff hips?
You might not think of sitting at a desk as physically demanding, but spending hours in front of a computer can have an impact on how your body feels.
